Psychology Tutor

Hi, I’m Sam, and I’m passionate about helping students of all backgrounds and abilities succeed in psychology. I tutor A-level, GCSE, undergraduate, college, and mature students, offering personalized support tailored to your unique needs and goals.

I know firsthand how challenging it can be to overcome academic hurdles, as I’ve faced my own learning challenges. During my first year of university, I struggled and earned a 38 in one of my classes, but through dedication, perseverance, and developing my own strategies, I managed to graduate with a 1st Class degree in Psychology from the University of Chichester in 2024. This experience is what drives my tutoring philosophy—I believe every student has the potential to succeed, regardless of where they start, it is about cultivating strengths.

My qualifications are rooted in a solid foundation of psychological knowledge, including core modules required for BPS-accredited courses such as biological, and cognitive psychology, research methods, and developmental psychology. I earned my degree with a 1:1 from the University of Chichester, a BPS-accredited institution, and I’m currently working towards an MSc in Coaching Psychology, with plans to continue on to doctoral-level studies. These experiences ensure that I am not only knowledgeable in key areas of psychology but also up-to-date with current developments in the field.

I have a diverse background that allows me to connect with students in different ways. Before retraining in psychology, I spent over 20 years in the music industry, where I worked closely with individuals and groups, providing feedback, technical support and often psychological support in multiple areas from project management to writer’s block and creativity. This experience, where I got it right, and the mistakes I made, gave me invaluable skills in giving constructive, clear feedback that helps people grow. I also have training in coaching and counseling, which further enhances my ability to provide personalized guidance for students.

I am well-versed in both qualitative and quantitative research methods and can assist with a wide range of statistical software, including R, Python, SPSS, and JASP. Whether you need help understanding complex theories, statistics, conducting research, or navigating challenging coursework, I can guide you through the material.

One of my greatest joys as a tutor is seeing students grow in their confidence and understanding of psychology. I love learning myself, and I enjoy immersing myself in academic content like lectures from Gresham College and the Royal Society, which fuels my enthusiasm for the subject. I’m especially interested in neurodiversity and metacognition, particularly autism spectrum conditions, and I bring this passion into my tutoring.

If you’re looking for a tutor who truly understands how to guide students through their learning journey—whether you’re navigating your own challenges or striving for excellence—I’d be honored to work with you.
